    Photographic Scale Demonstration

  Image A:  The photograph above was taken using a normal lens.  Let's assume that the project requires that the photographer's location be recorded. This is often the case in photo simulation tasks, as several images may need to be compared and evaluated.  
             

Image B:  This photograph was taken using a normal lens setting, but the photographer moved about 70 feet further away from the small building.  A comparison between Image A., and Image B, would convey accurate information about changes in visual context that occur when viewing distance is increased.

 

            

Image C:  This photograph was taken from the same location as Image "A", but using a wider angle lens.  Notice how the scale appears similar to Image "B".  The structure now has the visual impact of Image B., relative to its context, whereas the viewer's experience in the real world will be more like that represented in Image A.
